A new dance group wants you to join them

Kwa-Thema – A newly formed dance group, Kwa-Thema Generation, invites young dancers between the ages of seven and 18 to join their group.

Those interested can join the crew on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kwa-Thema Burning Spear.

They also appeal to the community for donations and sponsorship.

The group was formed by Thabang Nkosi, who is also the choreographer.

“The group was created in November 2020.

“The inspiration was based on the success of a dance competition I hosted last year.

“It was a huge success and seeing all these talented dancers participating, that’s when I decided to start my own group,” said Nkosi.

Former professional dancer Sthembiso Khumalo, who is the team’s marketing director, said giving back to the community is important.

“I intend to take the team far. With their determination and hard work, I believe we can achieve greater things.

“I thought it was important for me to share the knowledge, wisdom and experience with the younger generation so that they can also share it later.

“We encourage all dancers or anyone interested in dancing to join us. “

Resident Sihle Setanang further added that allowing her daughter to participate in the group was the best decision for her.

“My child loves to dance and has a talent for it.

“It keeps her busy and away from the streets. Children are disappearing, so belonging to the group of dancers gives me a feeling of peace.

“It also protects her from drug addiction and keeps her grounded,” she said.
