Brisbane dance-pop group Dizzy Days are shining bright with the release of their debut single ‘Take My Heart’.

“‘Take My Heart’ sees the confusion of an ‘on, off’ relationship with a girl through the eyes of a disco dance track,” said singer Aisling O’Byrne.

“Out of nowhere, I had the idea for the bass line, and it grew so quickly from there, I felt like I was being told what to write.

“The emotions of the song directly reflect how I felt; and there was a lot of journaling (AKA vented in the notes app) so it was all pretty fresh.

“I was in an ‘ok f… you’ mindset so the lyrics very literally say ‘well take my heart tear me apart but please once you’re done this time , let me go’ .”

Who is… We are dizzying days. Around November 21, Aisling (singer) started a Facebook feeler to gauge interest in a disco and electric band. This is how she found EJ (guitarist); they then snuck into Bridgette’s (bassist) DMs after seeing her at a gig. Then Mikaela (drummer) slides in the DMs everywhere x

It looks like… A bit like Dua Lipa and The Jungle Giants, but also a bit like Cory Wong and Parcels.

Our first gig was… Mikaela joined a little later and the first gig we played with her was at Vinnies Dive on the Gold Coast with Rum Jungle; very last minute, very spontaneous, very fun.

When did you choose the name of the band, and was it a unanimous decision… IT WAS HARD ! We were originally Made Messy, but no one had a clue what we were saying when we told them, so it was irrelevant. Then we implemented Instagram Polls after a bit of deliberation and Dizzy Days stuck.

In the studio, we are used to… We only went to the studio once, but it was for snacks, instant coffee, and FAILED TikTok attempts.

If we could tour with someone… Ok, ok, ok, dream scenario? We would love to tour with Harry Styles or The Jungle Giants, AH!

Social media is… Exasperating but also awesome?! It’s a love-hate relationship, but very satisfying when you know you’re doing the right thing.

My favorite app right now is… The Notes application, always; good for writing, making lists, tasks that never get done. We also love all the typical social media, duh, except Mikaela and Aisling never use Snapchat; the small age gap (a year or two) apparently makes a difference.

Life on the road can be… Look, the longest distance we’ve walked is about an hour, but it’s still a good time. We never have anything to say and there is usually someone stuck between two instruments.

If you have us on your invoice, all we ask is that our endorsement contains… VODKA 🙂

The scariest scenario we found ourselves in was… Traffic on the way to Spaced Out Festival. Oh my God! We left with an hour and a half to get there; it was an hour away and the time on the maps kept increasing, and increasing, the stress! Without forgetting that it was our second concert with Mikaela.

Which celebrity/famous person would you like to be a spokesperson for the group… Leonardo DiCaprio. Great guy, great actor, activist and let’s face it, he always hits. . .

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Probably London. Aisling and Bridgette have family in England but it’s also close to everywhere except Australia lol but what is it?

Three people you would like to invite to dinner… Leonardo DiCaprio, Maggie Baird (Billie Eilish’s mother) and Amy Winehouse; imagine this conversation, so many different perspectives on the world and art.

If we came to your house, what would you cook for us? For your entree tonight, you’ll receive a mouth-watering fries and dip followed by a delicate Uber Eats *locally sourced* special and finally, refresh your palette with lukewarm tap water, provided by the best distillery in the city. city.

When it comes to pets, do you love or hate our furry friends? LOVERS. We all have doggos, cats, horses. . . yes, the riders represented here.

No matter the expense, send me a case of… Gray goose.

The last time I saw the inside of a gymnasium was… Gin? Who said gin? We like gin – with tonic please x

What chore do you hate the most? 1000% to put clothes away/clean our rooms. It sucks. We all hate it, ESPECIALLY after a show or a shoot.

Do you have any phobias… Bridgette hates eyes.

Would you ever be on a reality TV show? Yes.

If you could prank one of your friends, who is your target and how do you take them down? Wide-eyed Bedazzle Bridgette bass.

The best local takeout restaurant for a midnight meal that will leave you in a food coma? We LOVE Lord Of The Fries. Mikaela likes an Oreo shake and the chicken waffle. Aisling loved Hawaiian loaded fries when they had them, but nuggets come next – she loves anything with pineapple in it, sorry team. Bridgette and EJ love to share a snack.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? We’re thinking of the Scooby Doo characters: Bridgette would be Daphne, Mikaela would be Shaggy and Scooby combined, Aisling would be Freddie, and EJ would be Velma.

The last show you binge-watched? Ok, not really surprising but ‘Euphoria’. This shit is addictive. Also, who isn’t in the ENTIRE cast? !

Dizzy Days launch “Take My Heart” at Woolly Mammoth (Brisbane) on May 28.
