Video: Student dance group UPro delivers holiday cheer from around the world | UB today

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is looking for ways to be festive this holiday season. With that in mind, BU Productions student video producer Aaron Hwang (ENG’21) enlisted the help of his friends at Boston University’s student dance group UPro (short for Unofficial Project) to give some joy at parties. They agreed to choreograph and perform a dance routine to a contemporary version of the classic “Deck the Halls” chant.

In these not-so-typical times, the dance group had to find inventive ways to bring the project to fruition. The dance number was choreographed by UPro co-chair Sophie Lee (Questrom’22), who is currently studying at her home in Seongnam, Korea, and Sarah Kim, a MassArt student. Then UPro members on and off campus learned the routine and filmed themselves performing it. Hwang then synced the recordings and arranged the visuals in this delightful vacation video.

“Despite all the challenges of being remote, this semester has been a chance for us to grow as a team,” says Lee. “When we heard about this opportunity to prepare a holiday video for BU, we thought it would be the perfect way to congratulate not only our team, but also everyone at school who worked hard this semester to shoot make the most of the situation we have been put in. Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
